Welcome to Float Well, welcome home….
My name is Barry Joyce. I have been practicing meditation on and off for about 10 years, with a deeper focus on Mindfulness over the since 2020. I am also a father of two amazing kids, a boy and a girl, who are at the centre of my world.
Looking back, I was always a little anxious without really knowing it. Like many Irish lads, I grew up pushing those feelings to the back of my head. I poured my energy into sport, trying anything that came my way, but I eventually found my home in athletics and football.
After school, I knew I wanted a career where I could help people while still keeping a sporting life. That path led me into some of Ireland’s major gyms and community centres, before life shifted and I found myself working in finance. As a young man, the appeal of weekends and evenings off was strong, and I ended up spending around 15 years in the financial sector.
I especially enjoyed working as a financial advisor because it allowed me to sit down with people, have genuine conversations, and offer solutions that really mattered to them. But over time, the pressures of the job alongside everyday stresses began to take their toll. I put work first, myself second, and slowly lost my way.
That is when meditation first entered my life. At the start, it took the edge off, but I never truly committed. I would come back to it only when I needed it most, and at times I even forgot it was there.
Then came the pandemic. Hitting rock bottom, I turned to Mindfulness, and I believe it saved me. It gave me a space where my racing mind was not consumed by fear. It helped me find a calm I had not known in years, if ever. Most importantly, it gave me room to rediscover who I really was.
Since then, my journey has deepened. I have completed a Diploma in Teaching Mindfulness and Meditation, qualified as a Wim Hof Method instructor, trained in the Oxygen Advantage Programme, and added certification in YogaBody Breathwork. Each step has shown me just how much control we can gain over our mental and physical wellbeing.
It was during this time that I discovered floatation therapy. My first experience blew me away, so much so that I travelled the country to try different float tanks. That is when the idea struck me: a float centre could become more than just a business. It could be a sanctuary where people find relief, strength, and connection. A place to share mindfulness and breathwork. A place where others could learn what I had learned, that we can take back control of our happiness.
And so, Float Well was born in March 2023.
After 18 months, Float Well grew beyond floatation. We introduced an Infrared Sauna, followed soon after by Halotherapy and Red Light Therapy, expanding onto Celbridge’s Main Street to give our community even more ways to recover, recharge, and reconnect.
Today, Float Well is more than a wellness studio. It is a home away from home, a place to rest, to heal, and to connect with like-minded people.
My door is always open. Give me a call, drop by for a chat and a cup of tea, and see for yourself what Float Well can bring to your life.
