How it works

What to expect at Float Well.

Floating is an excellent way to relieve stress and relax but if you’ve never floated before you may be wondering how it all works. Below is step by step guide to sho you what to expect when looking forward to your first float.

  1. Bring your own towel from home.
  2. You will be guided to your float room, if it is your first float or if you wish to be refreshed you will be shown how to operate the float tank and shower.
  3. Take a quick shower using our products we provide. We use these products to ensure our float solution remains of the highest quality and free from harmful chemicals often found in commercial shampoos and shower gels.
  4. Put in your earplugs, provided at each float.
  5. Step into the float tank.
  6. Close the door & turn out the lights once you are ready.
  7. Lay back, relax & feel all your stress & tension drift away.
  8. Once your session ends, music will fade to gently ease you out of your float.
  9. Turn on the lights & step out of the tank.
  10. Take a shower & get dressed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bring a towel from home and yourself. We provide shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. These products are designed to have least effect on our float solution which ensures the water quality is maintained. Earplugs also provided.
Our tanks are designed to be spacious that even the most claustrophobic of people can feel comfortable. However some people like to keep the light on inside the tank throughout or even keep the lid open. Both of which will not take away from the benefits you should achieve.
Filtering and heating the salt solution is done between float sessions. Filtering is initiated from your cloud-based control interface manually or automatically. This process ensures that the pod has filtered the solution through the UV cleaner and filter unit several times to help remove any dirty particles in the water. During the float session, no pumps or heaters are running to allow for silence within the tank. Float rooms are also maintained by our staff between each float so you can be sure you will be entering a pristine environment.
Due to both the depth and salinity of the float solution it would be nigh on impossible to drown in a float tank. Falling asleep can happen, but rolling over from the lying position on purpose is not easy, never mind accidentally.
The water is kept at approx 35.5 degrees celsius. This ensures a comfortable interaction with the skin through your float, at times it can even be difficult to feel the difference between the water and air on the skin.

If you dye your hair, you will need to wait at least 10 days after you dye it to give your new color time to set in completely. With red dye we require waiting 30 days to float and you must bring a tight-fitted swim cap

Thats up to you. Floatation Therapy is your experience. Some wear a swim suit or shorts, others go au natural. Keep in mind with floatation you are often trying to escape a busy mind, therefore an uncomfortable swim suit may interfere with your experience.

Floating and fresh tattoos do not mix! Not only could floating with a fresh tattoo be painful (salt + open wounds = ouch) but the water solution could cause fading or discolouration of your tattoo and permanently ruin its aesthetic appeal.

Like tattoos, this tends to not mix well! When your piercing is fresh it is still an open wound, which will cause some major discomfort. The area you have pierced will create a variation in the healing time, so floating can take between a couple weeks to a couple months depending on what you had done. For more information we suggest searching the healing times online or ask your body modification artist.

Don’t drink coffee for several hours beforehand (it can make your system jittery). Also, don’t shave or wax since the salt water can irritate your skin. We do supply petroleum jelly to cover any small nicks before you get in the tank. Personal recommendation based on experience – Apply Liberally. Eating a light meal about an hour to 90 minutes ahead of time stops your stomach from sounding like an angry monster while you float. Other than that, there’s no specific preparation needed.

Yes, pregnant women may use float tanks. Floating while pregnant allows you to escape the added weight of pregnancy by taking the strain off the body and spine (and feet!). It promotes excellent sleep, a lovely sense of well being, and can help with all the aches and pains normally associated with pregnancy. Floatation is not recommended in the first trimester. If you are in your third trimester, or have any concerns, please consult with your physician before coming in.

Yes, you can float while menstruating. Just treat it like going to a swimming pool while on your period. Pro tip: if you happen to be using a tampon, consider coating the string with petroleum jelly (provided in the room) to prevent salt water from wicking into the tampon. Tampons will be provided in the restroom at Float Well.

I Had the most amazing experience at Float Well in Celbridge . I went for an hour float the owner Barry took me into the floatation room and showed me how the tanks work , the water temperate is kept warm (36.5degrees skin temperature ) throughout your float, you have a quick shower before and then when ur ready you get into the tank,close the lid and turn off the lights ( don’t have to close tank and can keep on lights , but you get a much deeper experience if you do). I done some breath work while in tank and fell into the most relaxing state I have ever been in .I truly got into the most deepest meditation state I have ever experienced all my aches seemed to disappear and my current sport injury healed by the time I was out of the tank! After my float I went into their relaxation room for a herbal tea and a bit of a chill out , I felt like I was walking like mr soft from the mints ad years ago. My relaxed mental state has carried on still 2 days after my float and body feels brand new it really is like pressing reset in just one hour float! I can’t recommend it enough . They have other wellness facilities in FloatWell and more coming on their schedule such as Breathe work , yoga, mindfulness classes and even handstand classes brilliant addition to the community.
